Steven Bastien sets a meet and stadium record with an 8,000-plus point Decathlon, SBTC’s Juanita Webster kicks off her year with a win and personal best; Santa Barbara native, Allie Jones, currently ranked 2nd in NCAA with her 3rd place personal best performance
Santa Barbara, Calif. (March 26, 2021) – Gusty conditions on Day 1 cleared out for great early season competition throughout Day 2 of the Adams-Klein Combined Events Invitational hosted at Westmont College. Steven Bastien (USA) took home the 2021 Decathlon title on the men’s side with 8,008pts, a meet and Thorrington Field record. Santa Barbara Track Club’s (SBTC) Juanita Webster-Freeman (USA) won her first Adams-Klein Invite Heptathlon with 5,875pts highlighted by an almost 10-foot improvement in the Javelin Throw (48.78m / 160'00.25") and a four-second personal best in the 800 meters (2:15.13), both event wins.
Stanford’s Allie Jones (Jr.), a former San Marcos High School and Santa Barbara Track Club standout, opened her season with a 5,272pt personal best, currently ranking her 2nd amongst NCAA Division I competitors.
Nwaba FitzSimons Debuts
SBTC’s Barbara Nwaba FitzSimons (USA), a 2016 Olympian and US Champion, competed in select events, her first Outdoor Track & Field competition since the Rio Olympic Games. In her return she turned in solid performances in the 100m Hurdles (14.12) as well as the High Jump (1.81m / 5'11.25").

The Santa Barbara Track Club (SBTC) hosted at Westmont College aims to provide a pathway to the podium for athletes of all ages and abilities.
