Ehrhardt Wins First USA Title in Indoor Heptathlon

Ehrhardt sets personal best score of 5,868pts; Juanita Webster-Freeman 4th and Phil Bailey 8th at USATF Indoor Championships

Staten Island, N.Y. (February 23, 2019) – A trio of Santa Barbara Track Club (SBTC) USATF Indoor Championship rookies took to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex to compete in the Men’s Heptathlon (2-day, 7-events) and Women’s Pentathlon (1-day, 5-events). Tim Ehrhardt led the SBTC with his first USA title and a personal best performance of 5,868ts. Juanita Webster-Freeman also had her highest finish at a USA Championship with a 4th place, 4,255pt personal best. Rounding out the group was Phil Bailey’s 8th place finish with 5,352pts.

Ehrhardt Champion in the Heptathlon
With consistent performances on Day 1, Ehrhardt put himself in a position to make a run at the title. His High Jump was his highest clearance since 2015 and energized him heading into Day 2 where he set a personal best in the 60m Hurdles, soared past the competition in the Pole Vault and ran strong in the 1000m to earn his first title.

  • 60m - 7.02 (875pts, 4th)

  • Long Jump - 7.06m / 23’2” (828pts, 3rd)

  • Shot Put - 13.63 / 44’8.75” (706pts, 3rd)

  • High jump - 2.02m / 6’07.5” (822pts, 4th)

  • 60m Hurdles - 8.54 (851pts, 10th)

  • Pole Vault - 5.30m / 17’4.5” (1004pts, 1st)

  • 1000m - 2:48.48 (782pts, 6th)

Webster-Freeman 4th in Pentathlon
Competing in her first indoor Pentathlon just a few weeks ago at the University of Washington Husky Invite, Webster-Freeman qualified for the USATF Indoor Championships with a score of 3,989pts. Personal bests in the 60m Hurdles and Shot Put highlighted her five event competition.

  • 60m Hurdles - 8.35m (1050pts, 4th)

  • High Jump - 1.75m / 5’8.75” (916pts, 5th)

  • Shot Put - 12.85m / 42’2” (717pts, 5th)

  • Long Jump - 5.78m / 18’11.75” (783pts, 7th)

  • 800m - 2:22.57 (789pts, 5th)

Webster-Freeman also competed in the individual High Jump on Saturday where she cleared 1.78m / 5’8” and finished in 8th place.

  • 60m - 7.21 (809pts, 10th)

  • Long Jump - 7.17m / 23’2” (854pts, 2nd)

  • Shot Put - 11.29m / 44’8.75” (563pts, 10th)

  • High jump - 1.93m / 6’07.5” (740pts, 7th)

  • 60m Hurdles - 8.22 (927pts, 4th)

  • Pole Vault - 4.70m / 15’5” (819pts, 5th)

  • 1000m- 3:02.47 (640pts, 10th)
